What BMR tells you
Basal Metabolic Rate is the energy your body uses for breathing, circulation, cell repair and temperature regulation — typically 60–70% of all calories you burn in a day. The Mifflin-St Jeor equation (10×kg + 6.25×cm − 5×age, +5 for men / −161 for women) is the most validated estimate for the general population.
